Repurpose your Christmas Tree11/11/2016

Repurpose your Christmas tree!

Dried fir/pine needles still have scent, make a winter potpourri.

Cut the branches off and use as a protective winter cover in your perennial garden.

Turn your tree into a bird sanctuary in your back yard.  Make sure all decorations have been removed as well as tinsel.  Set the tree out and string with popcorn, cranberries, raisins and orange slices.  Make little bird feeders out of pinecones, peanut butter and bird seed.  (A great project to do with the kiddos during the winter break.)  The birds will love the feeders and also use it as a shelter from the wind and snow.

Check with your township office and see if they have a pick up date for old Christmas trees, they will pick up your tree curbside and mulch it.

Enjoy your Christmas tree before, during and after the holidays safely and in an environmentally healthy way!
